10,000 local afterschool and summer programs may not open this summer and school year because the federal government is withholding states’ 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) funding. https://bit.ly/SAVEMD21C
On June 30 the Administration notified states that 21st CCLC funds (and several other education grants) are being reviewed and held back. There is no timeline or any detail provided for the review. The withholding of funds could immediately impact the 10,000 sites that have 21stCCLC grants and nearly 1.4 million students – leaving working parents without support for their children, and taking away summer enrichment, activity, meals, STEM programs and more from children nationwide.
The WEngineer Summer Academy is back, offering hands-on STEM experience! WEngineer introduces students to the world of engineering through interactive challenges, creative problem-solving, and exciting projects led by experienced instructors.
This year’s academy features thrilling activities such as Rube Goldberg Machines, where students will design elaborate chain reactions to complete simple tasks in the most inventive ways possible. But that’s not all—campers will also take part in our SWERK Tank challenge, a Shark Tank-inspired pitch competition that builds entrepreneurial thinking and innovation skills.
Campers will also engage in additional STEM activities designed to foster teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity. With every day bringing new surprises and challenges, students will leave with newfound confidence, skills, and a passion for engineering..
